how is a men's skin different from women's skin?

First of all, men have thicker skin than women do. Men also have oilier skin. Men need this natural lubrication for beard growth, and it also protects the face and makes the skin less prone to wrinkles. The down side to all of this oil is that is can combine with dirt and dead skin cells to clog pores and cause breakouts.
As you age your skin will change. In earlier years when hormones are taking over, your body will produce much more sebum (oil). As you get older your skin will produce less oil, and the need for moisturizers will be apparent.
Exposure to the sun is one of the leading causes for premature aging of the skin, including a far greater chance of developing skin cancer.
The American Academy of Dermatology suggests that, regardless of skin type, a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 should be used year-round. Still not convinced? Then consider the following facts from the American Cancer Society:
- Everyone is at risk for skin cancer regardless of skin color, and everyone needs protection from the sun.
- Sunlight can reflect off of water, sand, concrete and snow and can reach below the waters surface.
- Cloudy skies may cool you off, but UV rays can still penetrate through clouds, so you still need protection.
- It's never too late to protect your skin. Even if you've tanned or burned before, you can still begin protecting your skin today.
- If you work outside in the sun, wear a high SPF sunscreen (15 or higher), a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and lip balm with sunscreen every day.
